What's your favorite Lockup episode?

advertisement

Hi everyone. My name is Flo and I'm new to the Lockup forum group. I love watching the Lockup series. I'd like to know what everyone's favorite episode is. I've got a couple of favorites. I really liked the Holman Extended Stay episodes. In one of the Holman episodes, I thought it was really great watching the inmates have extremely close relationships with the prisonyard cats. I suppose forging bonds with those cats was the closest relationship many inmates had at the prison. Many of them no longer have family or friends that still visit them while they are incarcerated. They also had some memorable inmates on that episode. My other favorites were Lockup Raw: Prison Love and Lockup Raw: Hard Time. Feel free to discuss all your favorite episodes.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

My opinion is that all episodes of Lockup are my favorite.  I am so so happy they hve new episodes because I got tired of watching all of the repeats. For a while I almost could recite some of the sayings of the inmates.  Keep the NEW EPISODES coming PLEASE!

You can look them up through an inmate locator. just google inmate locator, select the state the inmate's in and then put in whatever information you know about them and it will generally tell you full name, prisoner number, race, gender, release date and facility. From there, just go to the department of corrections website for that state and get the address for the facility where the inmate is housed. When you have that, all you need to do is write their name and prisoner number on the envelope and the address of the facility and you're good to go.

I've known of women who became infatuated with hard core inmates and started writing them, sending them money and eventually meeting up with them, which always crashed hard. Isn't there a name for this syndrome?

Alejandro Steel is also the son of Dona Ana County jail administrator Frank Steele. There was a big scandal that because of this, he received preferential treatment while still in the county lockup: things like getting good jobs (jail jobs) with felony charges pending, stuff like that. Also there was a computer break while he was there.

There is NOTHING funny about "Bootyman". If you have read any of my comments, you know I have served over 18 years in Maximum Security. And i'm here to tell you, BOOTYMAN is a predator who would be your worst nightmare if you found yourself face to face with him. He's a rapist and a predator and he's the worst type of scum there is. Dont be to impressed with any of the inmates you see on this show. What your seeing is not what you will end up getting.....

My cousin in law is on a couple of episodes, he was at Folsom.  I was so surprised to see him - he was locked up with my husband at the time the show aired.  He is actually very sweet in person, and on the show - but I am family.  Again, Dolphins is right.  These men are not what you think.  The institutionalization turns a very nice kind man into a shell of his former self, angry, and depressed.  My husband was out for about 18 months, but threw a stupid temper tantrum in public, and got locked up again.  Men who've done serious time need therapy and a great support system in addition to rest and decompression after release from prison.  It really does change them for the worst.

HurricaneDolfan, I never said that what Bootyman did in prison was funny. What he did in prison is definitely not funny, it's terrible. I think how he talks about his prison escapades is hilarious and insane. The fact that he talks about this stuff so nonchalantly and with no shame at all is what makes him funny. I agree with you that he is a predator, and has probably done some horrible things to people in prison. I'm sure Bootyman is the type of guy most men want to avoid when they go to prison.

The thing that bothers me to no end is the fact that certain inmates, after committing horrible crimes, have the odasity to suddenly start quoting the bible and calling on relegion. I am not a religious person by far, in fact I despise religion. The fact of the matter is that judging by the perspective they currently hold (the inmates) where was their so called evolved sensabilities when they were stabbing children or shooting some poor pedestrian on his way to work for simple respect by other gangbangers. All that this state of mind accompl8ishes is giving a hopeless situation hope for doomed people. This is another reason why religion is pathetic, these people actually think that they will be saved even though they have taken the lives of multiple human beings and the foolishness of religion says "Sure, we'll accept you murderer; come right in". What a joke..the prison system and religion. For the record, just for those of you out there who think you have all the answers and are going to attempt to reply to this text with some obscure bible passage or some personal belief don't bother, you only strengthen my case. ALso for the record I have been in jail before, not for anything terrible, just some simple traffic violations. In that time, those 6 months I was able to observe some very interesting things regarding the character of the other inmates, their habits, their demenor and so on...Don't bother sending replies to this text if you have not experienced what I have because you have no basis for even trying to identify with me, I am simply posting this to pose questions in your head, not to have a pointless religious debate with you. The fact that I have to state this also makes my case stronger, there is always someone who is willing to die for their religion..perhaps even kill...If you all cannot see the error in this state of mind, you have not evolved to the point of self reliance.

I'm not a highly religious person, but I can understand why some inmates turn to religion during their incarcerations. I guess they use religion as an escape from the harsh realities of prison life - they use religion as a coping mechanism.

I agree with with hurricane!!!! What you see is not what you'll get!!! I wrote for a year before the "real" guy came out. And boy did it hurt!!! I wrote a couple of inmates before and they seemed nice at first, but even after a couple of months the real story about their crime and the real them came out. It's like the Lock Up guy (cameraman?) said last night when he was talking to Sky Bishop, they seem nice and they sound innocent, or partially, but it's like peeling the layers of an onion. The real story comes out little by little and the real them, too. USUALLY, they really are guilty and belong there. Not always for the length of time they got and not under those conditions in there, but they do deserve SOME punishment and a lot of help! I am still writing my guy, but only as a friend, someone to be there for him. No one should be alone. I have no expectations of anything else. And I take everything he says with a grain of salt. Hopefully by having a friend it will be easier and happier for him. And maybe that's all it should be for anyone who writes.

I have done 7 years for drugs, now I find I enjoy watching and seeing what others do in bad situations. A lot of things are the same, clothes, commissary etc. Morbid facination.  I have not gone back but try to stay busy and out of trouble.  I note of interest.  I stole a motor out of a cassette player at a class I took and we fashioned it into a nice tattoo gun of which I got nice Fazor wire tat.  A momento of a bad experience.  What would be a good book angle to write about anyone?

Any luck finding a copy of Corcoran Extended Stay: Prison Politics? I am writing for one of the inmates familiy members and would like a copy and/or transcript. Also, I would like to contact the producer or somone on staff, but have not had a response back after posting here. Does anyone know who and how I can contact more directly? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can look up Alejandro Steele on the Penitentiary of New Mexico website and his prison # is 50857. You can also find more information by doing a case search on him and find out what his rap sheet is. I believe it says that he is doing time for Armed Robbery plus other things he did not mention of course.

On Raw: Hell in a Cell they showed this cute kid named Andrew Dykman in Utah who was going in for the first time on a statutory rape charge. What I wouldn't give to know the story behind that. I tried looking him up on the Utah DOC site but couldn't find anything. He must already be out. If anybody knows any more info about him let me know.
